Dumb ways to Die – DIY Electrical

September 22, 2013 in News

Well done to McCann Advertising agency in Melbourne for their campaign that became an internet hit for its black-humored list of dumb ways to die, such as doing “your own electrical work”. The agency has won a number of awards internationally including the most ever awarded to one campaign at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

Working with electricity is a high risk activity and requires training and safety measures to isolate this deadly unseen hazard. We are often seeing the results of unlicensed, uninsured and illegal electrical work taking place in NSW.

Do your own electrical work

Safety switches should be installed on all circuits to prevent the risk of an electric shock to life. Electrical circuits should be rated to the correct cable size and not be overloaded. Appliances should be correctly cabled and all electrical cables should be adequately protected. With growing public awareness, we can greatly reduce the risk of an electrical safety incident. We want zero electrical accidents, deaths or fires.

Electricity is dangerous. Electrical work is best left to the professionals. Guard yourself, your loved ones and your property by using licensed and insured tradesmen.
